Are you and your Christmas lights the envy of the neighborhood? Do you begin building blueprints in July — wearing a Santa hat and guzzling bottles of Great Lakes Christmas Ale you stashed under the stairs from the year before? Do you sign up for social media accounts to have more places to post pictures and brag about your sweet displays? If so, this contest is for you.
The City of Parma, in conjunction with the Young Professionals of Parma and We Are Parma Proud, is hosting its Holiday Lights contest in an effort to honor the city’s holiday lights champions!
The winners will receive the following prizes:
1st Place
$100 Gift Card & Plaque
2nd Place
$75 Gift Card & Plaque
3rd Place
$50 Gift Card & Plaque
People’s Choice (Based on Facebook Likes)
$25 Gift Card (All Top 10 finalist homes eligible to win, including homes that place)
Prizes will be awarded in January.
How to Enter
Entry is free. Fill out this form by Thursday, December 12.
Young Professionals of Parma members will vote on the entries based on photos and videos. Ten finalists will be selected among those initial entries. If you would like to vote, consider joining! Membership information is here.
Members of Young Professionals of Parma will review finalists in person on a bus tour taking place Thursday, December 19.
Judging will be based on the decorations of single homes (not multiple neighboring homes). Neighbors will need to enter separately. Judging is based on what can be seen from the road. Judges will not get out of the vehicle.
The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners will be announced before Christmas Day.
The 10 finalists’ photos will be posted on the Young Professionals of Parma Facebook page. The public will have the opportunity to “like” their favorite display. Whichever display has the most likes by December 25th will receive the People’s Choice Award, a $25 gift card, and bragging rights.
*Unfortunately houses can’t win two years in a row but we kindly ask last year’s Holiday Lights Masters to share this contest with their family, friends and neighbors!
Scoring Will Be Based On:
1. Coverage This scores how well the homeowners have covered their house/yard with lights and decorations.
2. Showmanship This scores the wow factor of the display — blinking or flashing lights, and items that move or change, or music are some examples. This can also be anything that took obvious forethought and planning, like a theme. This is about the owner’s level of creativity and thinking outside of the box, while still maintaining a holiday feel.
3. Aesthetics This incorporates organization and attention to detail. How neatly placed are all of those lights?
