10 Fantastic Remote Work Locations around Parma, OH

When my friend Rebecca moved to Parma, she invited me to join her for a work session at a coffee shop. She works remotely as a content strategist, and I work for a company with a hybrid schedule, so it was a fun way for us to catch up and work in the same space. 

Our first outing was such a success that we made it a monthly tradition. We started by exploring coffee shops around Cleveland, with Fridays being our favorite days to meet due to fewer meetings and a need for extra motivation. As members of the Young Professionals of Parma, I then suggested we find the best spots to work remotely in Parma. Over the past year, we visited 10 spots in Parma and Parma Heights that we recommend.

We understand that not everyone has the opportunity to work remotely. In fact, Forbes Advisor stated that, “As of 2023, 12.7% of full-time employees work from home, while 28.2% work a hybrid model.” They went on to say that 98% of workers want to work remotely at least some of the time. That’s a lot! 

Whether you are a job seeker, remote or hybrid worker, adult learner, full-time parent, entrepreneur, or someone who likes to get some work done out of the house, the following list of remote work locations has something to fit your needs. To help you out, we’ve provided addresses, photos, and a list of pros and cons for each location.

Cuyahoga County Public Library  is a world-class library system that empowers individuals and communities by providing opportunities for all to read, learn, create and connect. Enjoy a book, work on the computer, make something in the Innovation Center, or see an author event. The Parma-Heights Branch plans to get a brand new building in 2025!

Cleveland Metroparks

The Cleveland Metroparks is the oldest park district in Ohio with 18 reservations located throughout Cuyahoga County and Hinckley Township. If you are a nature lover, there’s nothing better than working outside in the sunlight and fresh air. Bring your own hotspot to connect to the internet or pull out your notebook to brainstorm and strategize. 

Pros: 

  • In nature. 
  • Can work from picnic tables or shelters (if not reserved).
  • Has restrooms and drinking fountains. 
  • Take a break and go for a walk.

Cons: 

  • No free Wi-Fi outdoors. 
  • Can be difficult to find power outlets.
  • Need to find a shady spot for good device visibility. 
  • Need to bring your own food.
  • Weather-dependent.

Café Blanc

Café Blanc is a European-style café with a cozy and welcoming atmosphere. Comfortable seating areas and friendly customer service makes it an ideal place for work, relaxation, or socializing with friends.

Pros: 

  • Free Wi-Fi.
  • Enjoy food (e.g., coffee, pastries, and light meals) and beverages while you work.
  • Good amount of seating between two levels.

Cons: 

  • It’s a new hot spot, so it may be busy.

Little Birdie Wine Nest

Little Birdie Wine Nest is a social sanctuary with a wine and coffee bar, sip & create art studio, yoga classes, and more. This cozy and eclectic space is sure to delight.

Pros: 

  • Free Wi-Fi.
  • Open late.
  • Good number of four person tables and booths.
  • Enjoy food (e.g., bakery items, light lunch) and a beverage from the Morning Owl Coffee Bar while you work.
  • Buy any last minute gifts on your way out.

Cons: 

  • More of a social versus independent working vibe. 
  • Has a minimum credit card purchase requirement.

Milk n’ Tea

Milk n’ Tea is a charming bubble tea shop in the Tri-City Center Shopping Center.

Pros: 

  • Free Wi-Fi.
  • Open late.
  • Two to four person tables available.
  • Enjoy food (e.g., bubble waffles) and beverages (e.g., milk tea, boba, refreshers) while you work.

Cons: 

  • The wooden benches aren’t comfortable for long periods of time. 
  • Most customers pick-up or chill, but that doesn’t mean you can’t work!

Panera Bread

Panera Bread is located in The Shoppes at Parma and is a warm and welcoming place to work.

Pros: 

  • Free Wi-Fi.
  • Extended hours.
  • Lots of tables to choose from. 
  • Enjoy food (e.g., crave-worthy soups, salads and sandwiches, mac & cheese, sweets) and beverages while you work.
  • Earn rewards with MyPanera Rewards Program or Unlimited Sip Club.

Cons: 

  • Can get costly if you work from here often.

Starbucks

Starbucks is the largest coffeehouse chain in the world and offers a variety of stores for quick coffee pickups, hanging out with friends, and everything in between. The E Pleasant Valley Road location is the only one in Parma with seating to work at.

Pros:

  • Free Wi-Fi.
  • Extended hours.
  • Enjoy food (e.g., breakfast items, bakery items, snacks, sandwiches & paninis, salads & wraps) and beverages while you work. 
  • Earn stars and get rewards with Starbucks® Rewards.

Cons:

  • Not a lot of seating.
  • A little loud.

During one of our work outings, I got distracted by a nearby gentleman who was watching videos on his phone, out loud for all to hear. 

It made me think about courtesies when working away from home:

  • Use headphones when taking calls or listening to videos, podcasts, and webinars.
  • Purchase more than once if you’re there over 1 – 2 hours to support local businesses.
  • Try not to plan virtual meetings when you’re away from home, but if you do have to take a meeting, be respectful to those around you.
