How to Enter

Participation is open to all City of Parma residents. The goal is to build community connections through friendly competition while also making Parma a decoration destination.

Entry is free. Fill out the form at: https://www.jotform.com/build/262605235492154 no later than Friday, October 16.

Eight finalists will be selected among those initial entries. Members of Young Professionals of Parma will review finalists in person on a bus tour taking place October 22nd. The three winning entries (First, Second, and Third) will be announced shortly thereafter.

With such popularity and so many submissions, we ask that you send in one picture to be considered for our top finalists. We know time and care is put into each display, and we look forward to seeing the small details in our live judging of the top 8 houses.

Scoring

Judges will use the following scoring criteria when judging homes. If you are a finalist, please make sure all lights and decorations are on and operating. Homes will be judged on coverage, showmanship, and aesthetics. Judges will get off the bus and walk around the property to judge.

Coverage

This scores how well the home owners have covered their house/yard with lights and decorations.

Showmanship

This scores the wow factor of the display. Blinking or flashing lights, items that move or change, or music are some examples. This can also be anything that took obvious forethought and planning. This is about the owner’s level of creativity and thinking outside of the box, while still maintaining a Halloween/Autumn feel.

New this year: In honor of Parma’s Bicentennial celebration, decorators can earn extra Showmanship points for incorporating “Parma Pride” into their spooky displays! Think spooky flamingos, pierogies, the Parma sign, the Bicentennial logo, local landmarks or anything else that shows off your Parma pride. The more creative, the better!

Aesthetics

This incorporates organization and attention to detail. How neatly placed are all of those lights and decorations?
